In short: If you found something and do not know who the owner is, it must as a rule be handed to the police as soon as possible (Danish lost property act, § 1). This site helps the owner find it – but does not replace that rule.
Found something?
- Know the owner? Return it to them straight away.
- Found in a shop, school, bus/train/metro or similar? Hand it in there – they keep forgotten items.
- Found anywhere else? Hand it to the police lost property office. You can still report it here so the owner finds it faster.
- Keeping found property is not allowed.
Finder's reward
The police may set a finder's reward – typically around 10% of the value – when the item was handed to the police, the owner is found and the value is above the police threshold. A reward the owner promises on this site is an agreement between you.
Items handed in to us
Items forgotten in our shop are kept by us for up to 30 days. Other found items handed in to us are registered here and handed to the police if the owner does not come forward quickly. Track your case with your reference number.
Special items
- Payment cards: cut the card and hand it to a bank, or to the police. Never post photos of the card number.
- Passports, driving licences and other ID: hand them to the police. Cover names and numbers in photos.
- Weapons, drugs or anything dangerous: do not touch – call 114 (or 112 in danger).
